The Tesla boss vented his frustrations while praising Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s plans to reopen some businesses in the state from Friday and sharing a newspaper op-ed with the caption: “Give people their freedom back!” In response to one Twitter comment, Musk wrote: “Reopen with care and appropriate protection, but don’t put everyone under de facto house arrest.” The outspoken billionaire, who frequently uses the social network to voice his personal opinions, blasted the nationwide lockdowns after it surfaced that Tesla had been forced to scrap plans to recall workers and resume production at its Fremont, California, plant this week, as officials extended health orders on Monday, as reported by CNBC....

He’s also faced criticism from Tesla’s shareholders that he is spending too much time on Twitter, then The Guardian ran a story suggesting that Musk was going to “turn into the same sort of joke that Trump has become,” and GQ joined the pile-on from the fashion perspective. He fired CEO Parag Agrawal, head of legal, policy and trust Vijaya Gadde, and chief financial officer Ned Segal. According to Twitter’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk will have to pay the three more than $204 million, MarketWatch reported. Musk is set to become Twitter’s next CEO. Agrawal had been the social networking site’s CEO since November 2021. The three executives own roughly 1.2 million shares of Twitter—amounting to about $65 million....

More than 33,000 customers remained without power in Moore County early Monday, according to Duke Energy, after authorities said two power substations were damaged by gunfire in what is being investigated as a criminal act. The outages began at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office said. Officials announced a state of emergency including a curfew from 9 p.m. on Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. At a news conference on Sunday, Sheriff Ronnie Fields said the attack “was targeted,” but that authorities have not determined a motive....
