Gerrymandering is the practice of creating electoral districts to give one political party an unfair advantage. Official restructuring of those districts happens every decade. Because of how some districts were last drawn in 2010, Republicans were allegedly able to win more elections. In 2021, the election maps are scheduled to be redrawn. Obama has called for them to be drawn in a non-partisan fashion. “I think people don’t completely appreciate how much gerrymandering affects the outcome [of elections],” Obama said....

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, which is overseeing the investigation into Guillen’s disappearance from the Fort Hood base at which she was stationed, said it will take time to positively identify the remains. In the meantime, one male suspect is dead and a female suspect has been arrested, the investigation command said Wednesday. “We believe that her remains were found. We believe that the suspect killed himself,” Natalie Khawam, a lawyer who represents Guillen’s family, said during a press conference Wednesday....

Gretchen Carlson, Julie Roginsky and Diana Falzone said they created Lift Our Voices because nondisclosure agreements, or NDAs, harm women by forcing them into silence and perpetuating a cycle of predatory behavior. Carlson and Roginsky spoke to Newsweek ahead of the weekend’s release of Bombshell, the Jay Roach-directed film about sexual harassment accusations against former Fox CEO Roger Ailes. The movie recounts the experiences of several women, including Carlson and Roginsky, in exposing Ailes’ role in creating a toxic work environment at the network....

McNeil, who was scheduled to appear in court last week on two felony charges of assault after a November incident involving his then-girlfriend, never appeared before a judge, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Even more curious is that McNeil’s court documents lacked an appointment of a defense attorney. The lawyer who once represented McNeil, F. Clayton Tyler, withdrew his counsel and says he does not know where McNeil is....

Former Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks player Corey Benjamin has issued a statement apologizing for his daughter’s actions. He said that he was in the process of getting his daughter “any help she may need and support her in taking accountability for her conduct.” “To the young lady who was punched by my daughter during a youth basketball game, I sincerely apologize to you and I am praying for your complete healing both physically and emotionally,” said Benjamin in the statement....

As Russia continues to advance through parts of Ukraine, the U.S. intelligence community has reportedly prioritized evaluating Putin’s state of mind, according to CNN. However, Andrei Illarionov, who served as an economic adviser to Putin from 2000 to 2005, has said he does not think that Putin’s behavior is demonstrating that he’s “losing his mind....
