According to NFL.com, owner Arthur Blank has an “optimistic tone,” despite Atlanta’s blowout loss to Houston last week. The 53-32 rout dropped the Falcons to 1-4.

The report noted, according to sources familiar with the situation, Blank wants to see progress over the next couple of weeks before the team’s Week 9 bye “or changes could come,” with the fifth-year coach as one of them.

Per the report:

Quinn, who is also serving as Atlanta’s defensive coordinator, is working with a new coaching staff this season.

“As of now, sources say Blank has not had discussions about Quinn’s future or how to proceed.”

Before the start of the year, he fired all three of his coordinators, including offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong.

The team hired former Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter as its new offensive coordinator, while Quinn took over the defensive playcalling.

The Falcons have a chance to pick up a much-needed win on the road when they face the Cardinals on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
