In addition to Spieth, San Antonio Express-News staff writer John Whisler lists these players to watch during the tournament: Jimmy Walker, a Texan; Phil Mickelson, the highest-profile player in the field; Jim Furyk, an every-week contender; and Dustin Johnson, whose meteoric rise since his return from suspension has him No. 9 in world rankings and No. 4 in FedEx Cup standings.

Play begins Thursday and concludes Sunday at TPC San Antonio’s AT&T Oaks Course. Steven Bowditch is defending champion. This year’s winner will receive $1,116,000 of the $6 million in prize money.
