El-Shenawy damaged his anterior cruciate ligament earlier this month while playing for Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League and the injury ruled the 24-year-old out of the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

However, Hegazi who was in action against Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool in Saturday’s English Premier League encounter, has travelled abroad to check on his compatriot.

“Peace be upon him,” Hegazi wrote on Instagram.

“Praise be to Allah. First and foremost, I will like to thank everyone who supported me very hard and my brother Ahmed Yahya,” El-Shenawy wrote on Instagram after the surgery.
