That means you can watch the entirety of the first season whenever you’d like off of the streaming service, making it the next live-action project from the game series that’s available to own. And in celebration of the first season of Halo on physical media, Newsweek is premiering an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip taking a look at the world of Halo as seen in the Paramount release.
This featurette goes behind the scenes to chat with the Halo team about the world they inhabit in the series, with a bit of commentary about what to expect from the characters, from Master Chief to Dr. Halsey and everyone in between. In the clip, which you’ll see ahead of the physical release, various cast members offer thoughts on the motivations behind the personalities they’re inhabiting.
“Sometimes when we’re hurtling in one direction, sometimes we have to be prepared to admit to ourselves when it’s time to change directions,” says Bokeem Woodbine, who plays Soren-066, a Spartan recruit in the series who runs a black market asteroid outpost called The Rubble.
This version of Halo follows a standalone storyline that takes place within a unique “Silver Timeline,” separate from the Halo games and other canon materials. With that in mind, it’s important not to consider it a prequel, sequel, adaptation or continuation of a pre-existing narrative. It’s very much its own thing, and a live-action spectacular that outlines a 26th-century conflict between humanity and the alien group known as the Covenant.
So the only way to get caught up with this series is to watch it, as the games won’t be much help. There are series anchors and mainstays, of course, like Master Chief himself being at the center of it all. But otherwise, if you haven’t already been streaming it, when you watch, all will become clear, especially how this story needed to be told in a fresh new vacuum without prior connections to the Halo universe.
There’s a lot to enjoy here for series fans, and plenty of new beats to explore. The first season has concluded, and there’s a second season already on the way. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to check out what you missed or prep for the second season ahead of the new Halo media on its way.
