Ford, 46, compiled a 155-111 record during his time in Stillwater, Okla., including five NCAA Tournament appearances. But he was let go March 18 after the Cowboys went 12-20 (3-15 Big 12) and failed to earn a ticket to the Big Dance for the first time since 2012.
Saint Louis was seeking a new coach after firing Jim Crews on March 10 following a second-round loss in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Billikens finished 11-21 (5-13 A-10), their second straight losing season.
Ford had three years and a reported $7.2 million remaining on a 10-year contract extension he signed with Oklahoma State in 2009, which included a $10 million buyout.
Saint Louis was paying Crews less than $1 million when he was let go.
