An announcement regarding Nabokov’s future in hockey will take place on Wednesday; the San Jose Mercury News reports Nabokov is expected to retire.

Nabokov, 39, was drafted by the Sharks as the 219th overall pick in the ninth round of the 1994 NHL Draft. He spent the first 10 years of his NHL career in San Jose before spending part of the 2010-11 season in Russia. Nabokov attempted to return to the NHL as a member of the Red Wings but played with the Islanders for three seasons instead. He then signed with the Lightning in free agency prior to the 2014-15 season.

Nabokov holds nearly every Sharks franchise goaltending record, including 563 games played, 154 wins, and 50 shutouts. In 697 career games, he has a 338-227-86 record with a .911 save percentage.
