The competition challenges 10 pairs of passionate amateur gardeners to create spectacular, large-scale flower installations for a chance to design their own sculpture at London’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

The Big Flower Fight has a scheduled Netflix release date of Monday, May 18, when all eight episodes will be released in one go globally. As with most new shows to land on the streaming platform, episodes will be available to stream from one minute past midnight Pacific time (or 3 a.m. Eastern time).
Who are the hosts of The Big Flower Fight on Netflix?
Comedy fans will be pleased to see two familiar faces at the helm of this highly-anticipated new show.
British comedic heavyweight Vic Reeves, who is most famous for his comedy double act with Bob Mortimer, will be taking on hosting duties.
Mortimer is joined by Natasha Demetriou, who viewers may recognize from FX’s vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, where she plays one of the leading vampires, Nadja.
“I just thought it would be a really fun job,” the 35 year old said of signing up to the project.
“It’s a subject matter that I really love, and I really believe in the healing powers of plants. I wrote a whole sketch about cacti once. I love a cactus.”
Reeves added: “This is a dream job for me because I only live half an hour away! It’s perfect.”
Judging the flower creations on The Big Flower Fight is resident judge Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, one of the leading creative voices in the floral design industry.
“Flowers exist in every facet of every culture,” he explained.
“They’re at your wedding, your dinner party, your gas station. This show really pushes that further. It lets you pull back that glamorous velvet curtain and see what goes into some of the biggest, most ostentatious creations you have ever seen.”
What will happen in The Big Flower Fight on Netflix?
Starting with 10 teams of amateur floral designers, each episode will see the duos put through their paces to create show-stopping installations. One team will be eliminated each week, as the tasks become increasingly more challenging, testing different skills each time.
According to Netflix, the teams are tasked with building a larger-than-life sculpture, competing to design and build the biggest, most outlandish and beautiful works of art possible from flowers and other natural materials, and avoid being eliminated for one more week.
With a conservationist theme, they are encouraged to think about using plants that give back to the environment—such as pollinating, insect-friendly species.
Some of the weekly themes to look forward to include “Enormous Insects” and “Huge Hairy Beasts.”
