New powers, characters and villains—there’s a lot going on in the Miles Morales game, and we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the expansion in one place, including when it comes out and what the story is about.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES RELEASE DATE

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to release on November 12, the same day that the PS5 officially drops.

Miles Morales will be released for both PS5 and PS4.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES STORY

The story of Miles Morales takes place one year after the events of 2018’s Spider-Man game. Miles and his mother Rio have moved to East Harlem and she is running for local office.

However, a war has broken out between the devious energy corporation Roxxon and a high-tech criminal army called the Underground, which is led by The Tinkerer. Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man universe is a bit different from the comic books, and the new expansion will feature a different take on the Tinkerer, which is alluded to in the gameplay trailer—but we’ll have more on that later.

In the gameplay trailer, the Underground attacks a Roxxon convoy on the Braithwaite Bridge in an attempt to steal NuForm energy canisters. NuForm is a highly volatile energy source that Roxxon promises can power the entire city cleanly, but the Underground wants that energy for themselves.

What each side wants with this energy will likely be the mystery surrounding the Miles Morales game, as our protagonist learns how to be a proper superhero.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES GAMEPLAY

Fans of 2018’s Spider-Man will love Miles Morales’ gameplay, since many of the same elements remain in this game.

From web slinging to aerial combos, Morales’ gameplay will feel familiar but with plenty of new tools in the kit. Specifically, Miles will have his camouflage ability to sneak up on enemies, and his bio-electric venom will be able to really put the hurt on the bad guys.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES PRE-ORDER & UPGRADE

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released in two different versions. The standard edition will be available digitally on the PlayStation Store or physically at your local retailer for $49.99. Again, gamers can purchase the title for either PS4 or PS5.

If you choose the PS4 route, you will be able to upgrade to a PS5 version. More details on that will come in the near future.

The second version of Miles Morales will be the Ultimate Edition that includes a voucher code for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered, an upgraded version of the 2018 title for the PS5. Players will be able to play the entire original game and “The City That Never Sleeps” DLC with this version.

This version of the game will be available digitally and physically for $69.99.
