Queen Charlotte (portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel) is getting her own spin-off, and rightly so as the royal is certainly one of the breakout stars of Shonda Rhimes’ racy period drama.

Who Will Star in the Spin-Off?
Rosheuvel will return to reprise her Bridgerton role of Queen Charlotte, with Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell also returning as Lady Danbury and Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton, respectively.
The show won’t just be set in the time period fans know Queen Charlotte from, however, as Netflix confirmed on March 30 that India Amarteifio will be portraying a younger version of the character.
Another new cast member will be Michelle Fairley, who Game of Thrones fans will remember as Caitlyn Stark.
Fairley will portray Princess Augusta in the show, who is described by Netflix as a Dowager Princess who “does what it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch amidst a changing, modernizing Britain.”
Corey Mylchreest will portray a young King George, while Arsema Thomas will also take on the role of a young Lady Danbury.
Other cast members include Hugh Sachs, who returns as Brimsley, Sam Clemmett as a young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the royal doctor and Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury.
What Will the Spin-Off Be About?
The Bridgerton prequel spin-off will explore the early days of Queen Charlotte’s betrothal to King George, and her “rise to prominence and power.”
Netflix confirmed in a press release that the show will feature a “great love story” that will also represent “a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”
Rhimes will act as showrunner for the limited series, as well as write and executive produce it alongside Betsy Beers, while Tom Verica will direct.
When Will the Spin-Off Be Released?
As yet there is no release date for the spin-off, nor has Netflix confirmed what the show’s title will be.
On Wednesday, March 30, Netflix shared behind-the-scenes images of the cast’s first table-read for the show, suggesting filming has yet to begin.
