The Oscars will air at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Here’s everything you need to know about who is hosting, presenting and performing at this year’s ceremony.
The (No) Host
The Oscars will forgo a host for the second year in a row, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “Let me confirm it now, together with the academy, that there will be no traditional host this year,” she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This isn’t a shocking decision. More and more, awards shows are deciding to go without a formal host. In September, the Emmys didn’t have one, and the Grammys and Tonys have done the same in past years.
The Performers
Among the performances Sunday night, two special ones aren’t tied to any feature film. Billie Eilish, who swept the Grammys’ top categories last month, will perform, as will Janelle Monáe.
Other musical numbers come from some leading films of the past year. Elton John will perform “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman, according to the Oscars’ website. Idina Menzel will perform “Into the Unknown” alongside Aurora. The hit song is from Frozen II.
Cynthia Erivo will perform “Stand Up” from Harriet, and Chrissy Metz will sing “I’m Standing With You” from Breakthrough. A Toy Story 4 song, “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” will be performed by Randy Newman.
The Presenters
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences this week put out a long, and finalized, list of the presenters. They include Jane Fonda, Josh Gad, Tom Hanks, Oscar Isaac, Sandra Oh, Natalie Portman, Chris Rock and Taika Waititi.
Other presenters, who were previously announced, are Mahershala Ali, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Zazie Beetz, Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Colman, James Corden, Penélope Cruz, Beanie Feldstein, Will Ferrell, Gal Gadot, Zack Gottsagen, Salma Hayek, Mindy Kaling and Diane Keaton.
Also, Regina King, Shia LaBeouf, Brie Larson, Spike Lee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, George MacKay, Rami Malek, Steve Martin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anthony Ramos, Keanu Reeves, Ray Romano, Maya Rudolph, Mark Ruffalo, Kelly Marie Tran, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig and Rebel Wilson.
