Earlier this month ESPN announced its college football coverage team and Ponder was noticeably absent. There wasn’t a reason why until Thursday night when the well-respected reporter posted a picture on Instagram with a caption explaining her departure.

So good news for people who enjoy Ponder’s coverage. She’ll still be on ESPN and covering college athletics, she just won’t be doing sideline duties.
Instead, she wants to focus more of her attention on her husband — Raiders quarterback Christian Ponder — and her daughter Bowden Sainte-Claire, named after Bobby Bowden, Christian’s coach at Florida State (in case you were wondering, baby Bowden’s nickname is Scout, named after the character in “To Kill A Mockingbird”).
Ponder spoke with Sports Illustrated last December about how hard it was to juggle a baby and work. Now she can lighten her schedule a bit to make it easier to manage.
