Dan Orlovsky continues to find himself at the center of quarterback controversies, with the ESPN analyst coming under fire in recent months for some QB opinions. Orlovsky, a big Justin Fields fan, lifted the curtain on why he thinks Fields may have slipped from the QB2 spot.
Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Orlovsky shared some insider information as to why Ohio State’s Fields seems to be sliding down draft boards, with his sources indicating that attitude and work ethic are among the main reasons. (Answer starts around the -1:33:30 mark):

Orlovsky’s answer on Fields:
It’s worth noting that there are smokescreens aplenty this time of year, so Orlovsky’s information could either be legitimate or a team just trying to play the draft game right now to get Fields to slide down. Orlovsky said that his info is coming from people involved with draft decision making.
The second thing is … Where is his desire to go be a great quarterback? I think that there’s a desire to be a big-time athlete, from what is expressed to me, but where is his desire to be a great quarterback? And to be great, you gotta be willing to find the things that you are not good at and just freaking grind on them.
This isn’t on Orlovsky, though: Orlovsky reaffirms that he’s a fan of Fields, and that this information doesn’t reflect his opinion on Fields. Orlovsky states that his main concern with Fields is his throwing motion, but it’s not something that makes Fields undraftable.
All things considered, seems a bit ridiculous to question Fields’ desire, when he put on a show with (presumably) busted ribs in the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff matchup vs. the Clemson Tigers, going off for six touchdowns in the show.
Wherever Fields goes, he’s going to make a team and a fanbase very, very happy.
UPDATE: Dan Orlovsky took to Twitter to apologize for the information he shared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and clarify that Ohio State coaches think Fields’ work ethic and attitude are top tier:
