Mendoza, a two-time Olympic medalist as a U.S. softball player, will replace Curt Schilling in the booth alongside Dan Schulman and Aaron Boone, who is replacing John Kruk as he moves back to the  “Baseball Tonight” broadcast.

Mendoza became the first female to serve as in in-game analyst during an MLB game broadcast by ESPN in August and set another mark when she became the first female analyst to call a nationally televised MLB postseason game when she sat in the booth for the American League wild-card game in October.

Mendoza and Boone will be the fifth analyst team for “Sunday Night Baseball” since the departure of Jon Miller and Joe Morgan in 2010.
