The news is not a surprise. Decker has not played since the Jets’ Week 3 game against the Chiefs, and the announcement about the severity of his shoulder injury seemed inevitable.

Decker is expected to have surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff.
One positive for the Jets’ passing game, in addition to stud wideout Brandon Marshall, has been the emergence of second-year receiver Quincy Enunwa, who has 27 catches for 294 yards and a touchdown on the season. The more troublesome part for the team, though, is the shaky performance of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
While the loss of Decker is a big blow for Jets, the bad news may not be over. According to ESPN, the Jets signed cornerback Nick Marshall from the Jaguars’ practice squad to fill Decker’s roster spot, a move suggesting the team is concerned about the status of corners Darrelle Revis (hamstring) and Darryl Roberts (shoulder).
The Jets are off to a 1-4 start this season, and their hole figures to get deeper when they visit the Cardinals as 7.5-point underdogs Monday night.
