“I think it’s just kind of run its course,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur told media Monday regarding Flowers’ relationship with the team. Reports indicated the Giants were trying to trade Flowers before they cut him.
Many have pointed out the fact that the Giants selected Flowers one pick before Todd Gurley. Melvin Gordon and Marcus Peters were drafted a few picks later, as well. With Flowers’ release, Landon Collins is now the last of the Giants’ 2015 draft picks still on the roster.
The release of Flowers, who had been the butt of jokes in New York for years, generated strong reactions from the Giants faithful.
