Driving the No. 9 car — the same number his dad raced — for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports, Chase Elliott topped the speed chart during Nationwide Series testing at Daytona Saturday.

Regan Smith was third in testing, giving Earnhardt’s team the top three speeds during the first day of Nationwide testing. Elliott’s No. 9 wasn’t the only famous car number to turn a fast lap. Ty Dillon, a fellow rookie for Richard Childress Racing, was fourth-fastest in a No. 3 car made famous by Dale Earnhardt.

Other notables in the top 10 were Trevor Bayne, David Ragan and Kyle Larson.
