First, there was an announcement that Wohl and former U.S. Marine Jack Burkman were to hold a press conference on Burkman’s driveway. There was a photo of an outdoor stairwell that had a large poster with Warren’s face and a caption that read, “Elizabeth Warren Cougar?” The term “cougar” was obviously a ploy trying to state Warren was an older woman who had an affair with a younger man.

Then there was Warren, who turned the tables on the baseless accusation.

Warren received her Bachelor of Science in speech pathology and audiology degree from the University of Houston, home of Cougar athletics. Warren, now a Massachusetts senator and a top Democratic candidate for president, used her background as a Houston Cougar to swipe back at Wohl.

“It’s always a good day to be reminded that I got where I am because a great education was available for $50 a semester at the University of Houston (go Cougars!),” Warren tweeted Thursday afternoon. “We need to cancel student debt and make college free for everyone who wants it.”

The media release by Wohl included an address in Arlington, Virginia, where the press conference was to take place Thursday. It contained a misuse of the word “conscious” when it should have said “conscience.” And it claimed to have details of a “decorated” marine who said he had an alleged sexual relationship with Sen. Warren.

“Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl will be joined by a decorated, former U.S. Marine and bodybuilder who alleges he was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with presidential candidate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren,” the media release stated.

The press release further stated how the alleged sexual affair began, and it urged voters to pay close attention.

“These charges will shock the conscious of the nation,” Burkman said in a statement. “This young man’s story is one that every voter needs to hear before casting a single ballot.”

In addition to Warren’s subtle troll to Wohl and Burkman, journalists who cover politics also mocked Wohl for the misspelling and other false accusations in the past.

“Jacob Wohl is is this curious combination of utter vileness tempered by hilarious incompetence and stupidity,” The Nation magazine’s Jeet Heer said.

“Jacob Wohl has misspelled the word ‘conscience’ on a press release,” author Robert Evans stated.

In addition to earning her undergraduate at the University of Houston, Warren once taught law there, according to The Daily Cougar.
