She took to her official campaign Twitter account to share an image of the side dish, which appeared to be a sweet potato casserole with marshmallows.
“Looks like I only set fire to half the marshmallows,” the 73-year-old joked to her 5.9 million followers.
At the time of publication, the photo had racked up over 46,000 likes.
In response, people shared their own Turkey Day mishaps.
“Today was the day I learned marshmallows are highly flammable,” one person commented. “Thankfully my nephew thought it more prudent to quell the flames than those of us who ran for our phones.”
“Ours came out as a kind of soup,” another said about their sweet potato dish.
“You’re not in bad company,” a third added, alongside a photo of a pie with a charcoaled top.

This year, many celebrities revealed how they celebrated Thanksgiving on social media.
“And three outta three complete,” Blake Lively posted to her Instagram Story on Thursday, referring to a delicious-looking pie she made.
Previously, the Gossip Girl actress, 35, hinted she often cooks the meal and revealed her favorite dish.
“I plan to eat, relax and just do nothing, which is so exciting because that really doesn’t happen often!” she told Us Weekly before a previous Thanksgiving. “On Thanksgiving I’ll cook an entire feast, a 12 course meal; it’s hard to pick a favorite, but my sweet potato casserole is pretty good.”
