The seven-year veteran was entering the final season of his deal in 2016. According to NFL Media, the extension, which will begin in 2017, is worth $35 million with $21 million in guarantees, making his new contract five years and $40.5 million. That $8 million-plus average makes him the sixth-highest-paid safety in the NFL according to average annual value, behind Earl Thomas, Devin McCourty, Jairus Byrd, Eric Berry and Dashon Goldson.

Jenkins, 28, enjoyed another strong year in 2015, recording 90 tackles, two interceptions (one for a TD), three forced fumbles and 10 passes defensed. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a result.
The Eagles have been busy this offseason, spending more than $187 million in contract extensions. First, the franchise spent $42.5 million ($20 guaranteed) on tight end Zach Ertz and $63 million on offensive lineman Lane Johnson last month. The club re-signed defensive end Vinny Curry to a $47.25 million contract earlier this month as the new Eagles regime looks to build for the future under Doug Pederson.
